Synthetic Biology: Vice President

Hi everyone! I hope you're all having a lovely day! My name is Isabella and I study Biological Sciences with a Year in Industry/Research, currently on my Industry placement. I am very excited to run for the role of Vice President for Synthetic Biology!

My love for synthetic biology comes from my previous research on DNA data storge, my Tutored Dissertation on biocomputing (specifically artifical neural networks and their integration with techniques such as DNA strand displacement) and my upcoming UROP on DNA computing for image manipulation. I had never heard of Synthetic Biology before coming to Imperial and so am very passionate about introducing synthetic biology to wider groups.

As Vice Pres, I would aim to:

  • Introduce SynBio to new members - organising introductory workshops, seminars and promotional posters for the start of the academic year
  • Collaborate with other societies - SynBio is very interdisciplinary and we could do lots of interesting events with societies like CompBioSoc
  • Organise a variety of speakers - during my time at Imperial, I've reached out to lots of SynBio professors and would love to bring in speakers from academia and industry

I have lots of experience running events through being a Hall Senior at Beit Hall, Secretary of the Hall Committee and Treasurer of the Computational Biology Society.

If you decide to vote for me, I will dedicate myself to being a reliable, organised and efficient member of the Synthetic Biology Society :)
