Cardiovascular: Year 1/2 Representative

Hi, I’m Saashi and I’m running to be your year 1/2 rep for CardioSoc!

Through Cardiovascular society I have found a platform to explore my interest in cardiology and connect with peers and professionals who share our passion. I would love to have the opportunity to collaborate closely with committee, focusing specifically on the needs of year 1/2 students.

My aims:

  • Career exposure events: providing young students with more opportunities to hear from both clinical and academic professionals can help shape long term career goals and provide insights into various sub-specialities
  • Research hub: by connecting with current Imperial cardiovascular research and academics, I hope to bridge the gap between early years students and cutting edge research, making opportunities accessible from the early years.
  • In person mentorship groups: year 1/2 students would be placed in small groups with an older-year. Just like our medic parents, they would provide advice, support and boost exam confidence!

Being involved in an Imperial cardiovascular research project has given me a fresh perspective on the diverse potentials within cardiology. I’ve seen firsthand how crucial innovation is for improving patient care and public health. Working together with the team to collect data, communicate with participants and liase with senior research leads has taught me the importance of a collaborative environment and I’m inspired to incorporate that same spirit within the society!
