Hello everyone! I’m Salik, and I’m thrilled to be running for Year 1 & 2 Coordinator! My goal is to bridge the gap between early-stage medical students and the incredible opportunities within cardiovascular medicine.
How will I do this?
I’ll aim to:
– Set up hands-on workshops, career insight talks, and interactive panel discussions with top cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons.
– Introduce structured peer-led tutorials, high-yield revision sessions, and Q&A panels to help you master difficult cardiovascular topics.
– Leverage my experience as a Medicine Admissions Assistant to create a mentorship network, pairing you with senior faculty members and professionals for deeper insight into cardiology.
– Collaborate with universities across London and beyond to bring in international speakers and networking opportunities for students passionate about cardiology.
– Connect you with ongoing research projects and provide guidance on getting involved in cardiovascular research at Imperial.
To ensure I bring the most valuable and forward-thinking opportunities to you, I have attended cardio workshops and conferences at multiple London universities, engaging with leading surgeons at the top of their field to understand the future of cardiology. Beyond that, I’ve spoken to students to gather feedback on what’s lacking in these conferences—what they want to see improve—and I will bring all of that knowledge, passion, and drive into my role as Year 1 & 2 Coordinator.
Right now, early-year students don’t get enough exposure to cardiovascular medicine, and that needs to change. If you want more hands-on experiences, better career guidance, and real academic support, vote for me!
