Malaysian: Welfare Officer

Manifesto for Welfare Officer

As someone who moved to a new country without having anyone close with me, I understand the challenges of adjusting to life at Imperial and the importance of feeling supported and connected. The Freshers' Camp gave me a community that made me feel at home, and it inspired me to create similar experiences for the upcoming freshers and strengthen bonds among all Malaysians at Imperial.

If elected as Welfare Officer, I will focus on fostering a sense of belonging and wellbeing for everyone. Some of my key plans include:

  1. Pre-Exam Social: Ensure students relax and unwind before their exams. To feature snacks, drinks, games, customisable exam care packages, and even Dikir Barat

  2. ICUMS Housing Guide: A comprehensive guide for current freshers, featuring insights from seniors about accommodation options and tips for finding the right place.

  3. Imperial Offer Holders’ WhatsApp Group: A space for offer holders to ask questions and receive real feedback from current freshers about their accommodation and life at Imperial.

  4. Freshers' Camp and Cohort Dinner: Foster social and academic connections between freshers and seniors, and give an introduction to MNight and our flagship Dikir Barat.

  5. Inclusive MNight Practices: Have ice-breaking sessions and provide snacks for every division

  6. Buddy Family Revamp: Introduce themed groupings and a transparent point system to keep engagement high throughout the year.

Through these initiatives, I aim to provide every student with the resources, support, and connections they need to thrive, making Imperial feel like home for all, just like me!
