Women in SET: Sponsorship Manager

Hi !

I’m Sharika Thayaparan, a second-year Biomedical Engineering student, and I am applying for the position of Sponsorship Manager at WSET. Women remain significantly underrepresented in STEM fields, making up only 26% of the workforce and just 16.5% in engineering roles in the UK. Despite progress, women continue to face barriers to entry, career advancement, and equal opportunities in STEM. WSET plays a crucial role in empowering women to achieve their goals by providing the support and platform they need to succeed.

As Sponsorship Manager, I am determined to do my best to contribute to this mission—working to secure valuable partnerships and sponsorships that can help create more opportunities for women in SET. I am eager to support and strengthen WSET’s efforts, helping to make a meaningful difference for women in SET
