Acute Care Specialities : Conference Organizer

Hey! I'm Naitry, a third year medic. I am applying for the position of Acute Care Conference Organizer.

With experience coordinating a cultural show involving over 100 members and 400 attendees and while liaising with sponsors, I have developed adaptability, time management, and multitasking skills. Organising organ transplant talks has strengthened my ability to liaise with doctors and surgeons — essential when curating speakers.

I appreciate the importance of early speaker recruitment, careful scheduling, and inclusive representation. I recognise that small but thoughtful details — such as speaker introductions and tokens of appreciation — can elevate the event experience. I also understand the logistical importance of procuring specialised equipment in bulk and well in advance, along with booking rooms and confirming speakers early.

If elected, I would like to introduce new workshops ideas in skills such as ultrasound-guided local anaesthetics and epidurals. Expanding the programme to include pharmacology and emerging research would cater to a broader range of interests, while panel discussions and lectures like the Professor John Vogel lecture would intellectually challenge attendees.

Having spoken with this year's conference chair, I am aware of the technical difficulties and last-minute speaker cancellations encountered. I would implement preventative measures such as testing equipment beforehand and having backup speakers available to ensure a seamless experience.

I am dedicated to leading with organisation, enthusiasm, and attention to detail to deliver a conference that provides balanced exposure to all aspects of acute care.
