Zach Egan
Hi everyone! I’m Zach, a first year in Chemistry! My freshman experience so far has been an eventful and exciting one. The thought and effort ChemSoc has put into freshmen activities is tremendous. While they have been well thought out, I feel that there are certain areas that are overlooked, which I can bring attention to. My diverse background allows me to better understand the needs and wants of our incoming freshmen, who come from all walks of life.
One idea I would like to implement would be to have more collaborations with other departments and even other societies so that our juniors get more opportunities to explore life outside Chemistry. I remember going down to Hyde Park to support the football match between Physics and Chemistry. Even though I did not play, it was still a great opportunity to get to know my coursemates better, and interact with the wider Imperial community.
As an international student, I had so many different questions about Imperial even before I came and it was hard to find the answers at times. Now that I’ve survived the transition into uni, I would like to share whatever I’ve learnt in the hopes that it takes some of the edge off what can be stressful time for our incoming freshmen.
Thank you for taking the time to read my manifesto! I would greatly appreciate your vote and would love the opportunity to help foster a more welcoming and engaging environment for our juniors.
