Ophthalmology: Vice Chair

Hello! I’m Zak, a 3rd year medical student, and I would love to be your Vice Chair of the Ophthalmology Society next year!

If I became Vice Chair, I’d be committed to providing these opportunities:

  • Facilitate networking events to connect students with professionals and peers in the ophthalmology community
  • Host educational talks (online & in-person) on the clinical aspects of ophthalmology, helping members gain deeper insights into the field
  • Increase collaboration with other London universities for events and networking opportunities, expanding our professional connections

As United Hospitals Hockey Captain, I ran the club with only two committee roles, meaning I had to take on a large range of responsibilities. This allowed me to develop a wide skill set, including leadership, event management, and communication, all of which I can bring to the Ophthalmology Society. As well as this, my experience organising events and matches with other London university teams has provided me with valuable connections and an understanding of how to effectively collaborate across institutions to bring these opportunities to life. I am also on the Imperial College Medics Hockey Committee, giving me further experience in how societies operate at Imperial.

I am passionate about Ophthalmology and excited to introduce new ideas that will benefit the society and its members.
