Hi, my name is Sang-Ryun (or just Ryan!), a first year medic, subcommittee member, routine volunteer, and photography addict. I'll be running for Publicity Officer this year to promote engagement, improve retention, and showcase the impact we have.
Regulars might have seen me running around snapping photos with my camera and fumbling with lenses that one afternoon. Others might have seen a post which stands out on the Instagram (that was me!). Photography and publicity isn't about what "looks nice", but rather capturing a moment in time with the whole vibe contained in it.
A current issue is that for those outside of TBH, it's difficult to tell what actually goes on from the photos.
So, engagement?
- With consent, post high quality photos which really put you there - see for yourself in my campaign media!
- Pin an Instagram post, with photos, describing what each station involves, guiding new volunteers
- Work closely with the Web Officer to update old photos
Retention?
- I mean… you'll get high quality awesome looking photos for free! Only if you come though ;)
- Opt-in leaderboard, showing hours volunteered every week (with a prize at the end!)
- Reminders nearer to the time - what to bring? when to leave?
Showing our impact?
- Posting testimonials from teachers, students, and bringing back "overheard at TBH"
- TBH recapped after every term/year
- Working with School Liaison Officers to secure professional first impressions with schools
PS. I'll be documenting the AGM by shooting photos. Let me know if you'd like them!
