Tariniya Vijay
My name is Tarni and I am a second year medical student, who would be privileged to be secretary in Oncology Society next year.
Oncology is a field that has always interested me in a multitude of ways. From its potential to change peoples’ lives to the developing research and the constantly evolving nature of treatment, it is something that I am deeply passionate about.
Being on the subcommittee last year, I understand what is needed for the seamless running of this society. Clear communication and teamwork are vital for the successes of the society, including the Surgical Oncology Conference which I was able to participate in.
As an organised individual with great attention to detail, if selected, I would ensure that all meetings are properly documented and recorded accurately and all information is properly shared amongst members of the society, making sure every member feels informed and listened to. Furthermore, after being involved in the committee of another society, I am confident in liasing with Union when necessary in order to book rooms for events and organising the logistics of different events, such as conferences and workshop series.
As secretary, I endeavour to see this society thrive through passionate, like-minded individuals who are interested in this field. I would love the opportunity to engage with a committee who raises awareness and educates others for such an important field in today’s society.
