Teesta Maulik

General Practice (ICSM): Vice Chair

Hi! My name is Teesta and I’m a third-year medic. My passion for GPPH is demonstrated through my achievements, including winning an Inspire GP Celebrating Primary Care Award and serving as Head of Strategy for two years.

My commitment to delivering on promises is evidenced by my successful implementation of initiatives outlined in my previous manifesto:

  • Organising "The Great Specialty Debate: Which Path is Right for You?" in March
  • Collaborating with staff to launch the pilot "Coffee and Careers" mentoring programme

As President of the Haematology Society, I've developed critical leadership skills that will benefit GPPH, including:

  • Reflections on common challenges when leading a society
  • Early planning and strategic foresight
  • Effective risk management with contingency planning for Union processes
  • Delegation skills and consistent communication

My BTEC in teamwork has equipped me with the ability to work empathetically with diverse personality types and understand complex team dynamics.

While continuing the society's excellent existing work, I plan to:

  1. Strengthen the "public health" component by establishing collaborations with the WHO at Imperial
  2. Enhance GP career awareness through short-form Instagram interviews with practising GPs
  3. Increase health economics knowledge by organising talks featuring GPs in NHS leadership positions

Beyond my aforementioned CSP roles, I am the SORA Research Skills Academy Lead and ImmunoSoc MBBS Lead. These experiences have equipped me with the key teamwork, communication and organisational skills to work with the team. Having established a rapport with the Undergraduate team, I am well-positioned to oversee the society's various functions and drive its continued success.
