Dermatology (ICSM): Vice Chair

Hey everyone! I’m Hiba, and I’m running for Vice President of Dermsoc next year! Let’s be honest, BRS in 1st and 2nd year has given derm a bad reputation and unfortunately, has significantly distorted our perception of the field. My goal as VP is to address these misconceptions and showcase what dermatology truly offers—a versatile field that opens doors to various pathways, from treating skin cancer to pursuing dermaesthetics!

So, what makes me a good fit for this role? Over the past year, I’ve been involved with Muslim Medics, helping to organise a variety of events, from mock finals to welfare talks. I've also taken on additional responsibilities, such as organising a charity gala that raised over £20,000 for charity! Through these experiences, I’ve developed a diverse skill set, including strong time management and organisational skills, as well as an understanding of effective teamwork.

As your next VP of Dermsoc, I will aim to:

1. Organise an optional elective week in dermatology for early-year students (Years 1-4) so they can experience what dermatology is like before their 5th year

2. Arrange high-quality tutorials tailored to each year group, covering essential content for the year

3. Continue our Dermsoc conference to allow students to network and develop vital connections for their future careers

4. Organise charity fundraisers in collaboration with well-established organisations, such as the British Skin Foundation

Thank you for your support and vote for me as VP!
