Jonathan Kow

Hi, I’m Jonathan and I’m running to be your next President. Acute Care Society plays a pivotal role in promoting medical student awareness and participation in Anaesthetics, Intensive care, Emergency Medicine and Acute Medicine. I would like to build upon this integral aspect of Acute Care Society and work with you to hold exciting and engaging events in this coming year.

As the President of the Society of Research and Academia this year, I have planned many events and learnt key managerial and collaborative skills that are critical in ensuring the society functions smoothly. I believe these skills make me well-equipped to excel in this position.

As President, I will aim to:

Support the organisation of events by:

• Working with event leads to overcome challenges and improve ideas
• Partnering with various societies to increase the diversity of ideas and participants
• Recruiting a strong subcommittee consisting of members with diverse skill sets and backgrounds

Prioritise equality, diversity and inclusion in the society by:

• Ensuring events are accessible to all
• Ensuring that research opportunities and tickets for events are distributed fairly
• Maintaining an open reporting channel for all members to feedback any concerns

Build a strong and collaborative committee by:

• Organising termly open socials to discuss and develop ideas for events
• Facilitating discussions between event leads to improve event designs
