Mathematics: Career Events Officer

Hi! I’m Jiaying, and I’m excited to run for Careers Events Officer for MathSoc.

As Careers Events Officer, I’ll ensure all year groups have access to the latest opportunities, from internships and workshops to industry events. I’m always on the lookout for new opportunities and can’t wait to share what I find with you. I also want to run more specific events, like internship-focused fairs, international career opportunities (especially helpful for international students), and alumni talks to showcase the diverse paths a maths degree can take.

Here are my specific goals:

  1. Autumn Careers Fair: Liaise with maths-focused employers to highlight various career paths.

  2. Internship Fair: Host 20+ companies from finance, tech, consulting, etc., to discuss summer or graduate internships and application processes.

  3. International Careers Fair (Spring): Feature global companies to explore opportunities in Asia, America, Europe, and beyond.

  4. Alumni Talks (Summer): Organize meetings with recent graduates to share their experiences and career journeys.

I’m sociable, approachable, and always open to feedback to ensure our events are relevant and high-quality. Let’s work together to make MathSoc the go-to place for career inspiration and opportunities!
