Aisha Saidykhan

Hi everyone, I'm Aisha! I'm a first year medical student and I want to be Outreach Officer because I am really passionate about creating opportunities for younger black students and inspiring them to aim higher. I think it is so important to see people who look like you in the spaces you aspire to be in, and this is something I am devoted to fostering as Outreach Officer. As black people, we are aware that we need to work harder than the average person to get to the same stage in life, so being able to give these students a leg up and support in a world that seems determined to put them down, is something I am enthusiatic about!

I love the idea of supporting prospective students and giving them the platform to interact with current Imperial students, along with forming relationships with other students like them. I am excited by the prospect of organising events/workshops and setting up mentoring schemes for younger students from underrepresented backgrounds. My main goal is to empower and support prospective black students - giving them not only the resources but the belief that they need to succeed in a degree/career in STEM.
