Ryo Kusakari
Hey everyone! I’m Ryo, and I’m excited to run for Chair of the Immunology Society!
A little about me - I’m a second-year BMB student from Japan, and my favourite immune cells are neutrophils: for their fascinating abilities in NETosis and trogoptosis. Immunology has been my favourite branch of biology ever since secondary school, and I love how the body possesses such intricate mechanisms to defend itself from a potentially limitless variety of pathogens. This year, I want to take this passion to immunosoc by bringing even more events, both social and academic, for all of you guys who are just as passionate as me about the subject.
Why vote for me? In my second year, I’ve had the pleasure of working as committee member for 2 societies - the Japanese Society and ABACUS. These roles have strengthened my ability to collaborate within teams and quickly troubleshoot challenges when organising social events. Additionally, during my time in 6th form, I served as a committee member for the Biomedical Society, where I organized weekly talks, bringing in expert speakers from both clinical and laboratory backgrounds.
My experience in planning and executing both academic and social events has given me the skills necessary to lead and grow this society effectively. As chair, I’ll ensure we host a variety of engaging events that cater to all members and expand our understanding of immunology, while fostering a fun and supportive community.
Let’s make this year one to remember! Vote Ryo for Immunology Society Chair!
