Tariniya Vijay
My name is Tarni and I am a second year medical student who would be privileged to be Treasurer for SORA.
Academic research is the foundation of progress, and I am eager to contribute to the successes of the SORA through effective financial management. I understand the importance of having a strong committee in order to efficiently and successfully run events, and I believe I am a strong candidate who will contribute my skills to support the society.
Having been on the subcommittee last year, I understand what is needed for the seamless running of this society. Being able to assist with small tasks during conferences, I saw the importance of teamwork and communication to run an insightful, educational conference for others.
My attention to detail and analytic skills will allow me to diligently complete the necessary responsibilities of treasurer, including managing finances and completing risk assessments from events. This role will allow to me to work closely with the Sponsorship officer and Presidents in order to ensure that all events stay within budget and any transactions are made note of, which requires good teamwork and communication skills that I have confidently demonstrated in my committee position in Imperial Tamil Society.
I want to contribute to the society’s success through responsible financial management, which is a core element of many of the successful events ran by SORA. Working with like-minded individuals, who share the same passion in the ever advancing field of research would be a great opportunity.
