Thilaksana Thavaranjan
Hello everyone! I am Thilaksana Thavaranjan, a fourth-year medical student interested in the ICSM Vision society and would love to take on the role as a recruitment officer.
Volunteering as a mock examiner for MMIs (PotMED, ICSM Vision & NCS) and CPAs (MedEd) has enhanced my interpersonal and problem-solving skills, which will both help me liaise with faculty members and prospective BSc students. Have volunteered for a variety of societies including ICSM Vision, so I have a good insight how each society recruits volunteers and organises events. Hence, I am able to advertise recruitment posts/posters for conferences, maintain a spreadsheet for volunteers, update training documents for volunteer interviewers and train them on the day of the conference.
Tutoring for an MMI workshop at the London-wide Paediatrics Conference and clinical skills session (Muslim Medics) has boosted my confidence in communicating with people of all levels.
Aims:
- Reach a wide pool of candidates through strategic advertising on social media, and through professional networks.
- Attract candidates from diverse backgrounds, and ensure our society benefits from a range of perspectives.
- Communicate society's aims, values, and benefits, ensuring that we present ourselves as a great place to work for both prospective students and the wider community.
- Provide volunteers with feedback forms from attendees in addition to the certificate they receive.
- Ensure that every candidate, whether successful or not, has a positive and professional experience with our recruitment process.
I am deeply passionate about this role and look forward to being a part of ICSM Vision.
