Did you think the Geophysics society was inactive lately?
I'm here to change that. How? By tackling the root cause of inactivity, lack of funds.
Building upon my track record of active engagement with the ICU as a rep through CWF and SVC, I hope to lift the restrictions (hopefully in its entirety) which blocks the Geophys soc from receving funding from "not so sustainable companies". I belive this is somewhat illogical as we are using those funds to further advance our geophysical knowledge, not purchasing 100 year old lorries that can't enter the ULEZ. If those funds stayed in the hands of the unethical corporates, they would probably have far worse environmental consequences.
Our sister society, the Geology soc, has successfully organised the freshers' geology trip - my aim is very similar. I hope to re-invgorate the once glorious geophysics socity in conjuction with the commitee members.
