Pariza Jalal

Hey :-)

I'm Pariza, a third-year biochemistry student, currently away on an industrial placement year. I loved attending the different events held by WSET during my first and second year, as I'm sure many of you did too, and I would love to get even involved in these events with the committee in my final year. Using skills I already gained during my second year as social media manager of Art Club, I believe I'll be able to manage the WSET website well and ensure all members of the society are always well informed and updated.

The volunteer work during my placement year so far has focused on diversity & inclusion:

• As part of an internal volunteer group focusing on race/ethnic/cultural diversity and inclusion throughout the workplace
  • Organised a Black History Month stall
  • Involved in planning + marketing monthly lunch sessions for employees
• Assisting with an International Women’s Day event
• Volunteering at a local school for deaf students for a career day

Alongside these, my experience working with my department has developed my teamworking and communication skills. My extensive lab experience has also enhanced my organisational skills and attention to detail, all of which will allow me to manage the WSET website well.
