Shreya Pillai
Hi everyone! I’m Shreya, a second-year chemical engineering student and I would love to contribute to WSET this year as a liaison. At WSET events, all of my interactions with members have been nothing but uplifting and insightful. I admire how the organisation fosters a community of ambitious and supportive women.
I’m running for the liaison role to help provide opportunities for female students passionate about STEM and wanting to progress their careers. Some of the things I hope to do are:
- Partner with more women-led start-ups to organise events and set up potential internship pipelines for WSET members.
- Gain more visibility for the organisation by entering more conferences/industry panels focusing on empowering women in STEM and other sectors.
- Continue to maintain strong relationships with existing sponsors.
Having served in similar roles before, I understand the importance of maintaining a strong repertoire with contacts in the industry and upholding the image of our organisation. In the past, I was a logistics secretary for KLMUN, an international model UN conference involving schools across South East Asia. I organised events and participant logistics such as schedules. In addition, I liaised with the Malaysian branch of the UN to arrange a guest speaker. I have also compiled sponsorship brochures for various other events. At Imperial, I’ve continued to gain experience in reaching out to new people, whether they’re peers or esteemed academics.
Thanks for reading & happy voting! :)
