Yuxin Guo

Hi everyone!

I’m Yuxin, a second-year chemistry student and I’m excited to be running for WSET’s Event Organiser!

I was really inspired by WSET’s Annual Industry Networking Event, with its impressive range of sponsors and the best food I’ve seen at a networking event; I want to be part of the behind-the-scenes of these flagship events to continue empowering women at Imperial through connections with outstanding professionals in STEM.

I have experience organising and directing a musical in high school, managing a team of 40 members and coordinating a 150-person audience. This involved handling publicity, logistics, technical production, performances, and external vendors—all skills I would bring to WSET to create seamless, impactful events.

As Event Organiser, I’m ready to:

1. Elevate our flagship events (Annual Industry Networking Event, International Women’s Day Formal Dinner) by securing high-profile venues, refining logistics, enhancing catering quality, and maximising value for participants and sponsors
2. Improve insight days by collecting structured feedback from members and working with sponsor firms to introduce more interactive case studies, hands-on sessions, and day-in-the-life sharing
3. Launch new, long-term events in collaboration with Climate Entrepreneurs, EWB, and ICWB, such as hackathons and real-world projects featuring mentorship from Imperial academics and industry professionals in areas like energy and healthcare tech
4. Strengthen our community through more frequent social events, including informal dinners, panel talks, and academic workshops
