Hi everyone! My name is Michael Tao. I am a first year Chemistry student and Imperial Ash Music Scholar (Piano). My favourite composers are Chopin and Rachmaninoff and I am always up for playing chamber music with other people!
For me, one of the greatest joys of music is how it brings people together. It introduces us to incredible and talented people and allows us to make great friends along the way. I hope to strengthen partnerships with other music societies at London universities, such as at LSE, UCL and RCM by creating joint performance opportunities and social events, allowing us to make music and make friends with people from other universities too.
Music is for everyone - no matter your skill level or experience. I want to foster a judgement-free space where everyone can feel comfortable picking up their instrument and just giving it a go. I will take an active part in concerts and I hope to encourage everyone to step out their comfort zone and try new things, whether that be learning a challenging piece, trying out chamber music or performing in front of an audience. Whatever it is, chamber music society should be a place where you can meet like-minded peers, ask for advice or just relax after a long day at uni.
Few things are as inspiring as watching world-class musicians perform live. I hope to arrange concerts featuring internationally renowned professional musicians so that we can all experience the highest quality live music first hand.
