Surgical: Executive Committee Member

Hello! I’m Akshaya Muthirulandi, and I am excited to be running for a position as one of your future General Executive Committee members for the Surgical Society!

You might be wondering—why me? Well, I bring with me two years of hands-on experience within the Surgical Society, having served first as a subcommittee member and currently as the Webmaster. Through my involvement, I’ve assisted with numerous skills days and other events, which has given me invaluable insight into the inner workings of the society. Additionally, this year I’ve served as Publicity Officer for SORA, where I developed strong organisational and time-management skills.

As a General Executive Committee member, my goals are to:

I hopeto bring a dynamic Foundational Skills in Surgery day, aimed at inspiring attendees to pursue surgery and providing an engaging overview of key surgical techniques.
I will ensure that delegates have the best possible experience by gathering feedback through surveys and polls on Instagram, allowing them to choose which surgical techniques they’d like to learn about and ensuring our events meet their needs.
I aim to bring back the mentorship scheme, helping members connect with surgeons in their desired specialties and providing opportunities to get involved in research and other professional growth activities.

With my experience and passion for the Surgical Society, I would be honored to contribute to the society’s success and help create an exciting and engaging year for all members.
