Surgical: Executive Committee Member

Hello everyone! I’m Anirudh, an active member of SurgSoc, having attended events like the Trauma Conference and BISA-SurgSoc Research Series. As a researcher for NANSIG and the Imperial Brain and Spine Initiative, I am passionate about research and hope to introduce more talks on surgical research. Inspired by the help offered by SurgSoc’s JAS lectures and mock CPAs, I became a CPA tutor under the scheme organised by SurgSoc and other societies.

Beyond SurgSoc, I’ve developed communication, organisation, and marketing skills through roles in Doctorpreneurs, Acute Care, and Psychiatry Societies. I helped promote an international conference, design marketing materials, and liaise with top consultants. Additionally, I played a key role in organising and being an assistant demonstrator for many workshops.

My experience in private tutoring, lecturing for MedEd, and captaining my cricket team has strengthened my ability to lead, delegate, and collaborate effectively—mirroring qualities crucial for this role. Just as I have guided teams and students, I will coordinate with subcommittee members to ensure the smooth execution of events.

For my proposed events, I aim to introduce a Neurosurgical Skills Day (similar to the Orthopaedic Skills Day), leveraging my connections with neurosurgeons and NeuroSoc, alongside a Surgical Innovation & Startup talk, drawing from my experience coordinating the Doctorpreneurs Conference. I will also ensure the success of existing events like FSS and Intro to Surgery.

With my diverse experience, passion, and commitment to enriching SurgSoc, I am excited about the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the team :)
