Demir Ercan

Hello hello! My name is Demir, a first year chemist and I am running for the position of ChemSoc Junior Treasurer! Since I've started my studies here at Imperial it has been quite eventful and thrilling. As someone who has had experience in the area of organisation and treasurey, I believe that I could bring a new perspective to ChemSoc and build around what has already been made. My involvement in organising MUN conferences and tackling the financial aspects of organising such an events has allowed me to develop my leadership, organisation, and teamwork skills. I hope to be able to bring these skills and my experiences to ChemSoc to enhance the events that we will have in the future.

I will make sure that the budget is used in a smart manner that will benefit all of ChemSoc. I plan on also following an open-book policy, meaning that how the finances of ChemSoc will be managed will always be transparent and easily accessible to anyone, as it is your right to know where your money is going! If I am elected as your treasurer I will advocate for the budget to go into events such as 'Meet a PhD' or career fairs, where us chemists can get to talk to people who were once in our shoes. Finally, I will make sure that our funds are used in interdepartmental events in where we can explore other fields of expertise and connect with others as science is a collaborative field!
