I’ve lurked in these waters for too long. Last year, I didn’t have the balls to stand for 2nd team captain but this year, I’m going BIG. After three sober years in ICSMWoPo, it’s time for a change. In what will be my final year at Imperial, I feel compelled to give something back and take a bigger role in the club.

I may not be built like a Chilli Heatwave Dorito like Louis, but what I do have is an extensive playbook - some might even call me ICSMWP’s greatest playmaker (alright, maybe just me, but I’ll prove it). With nine years of water polo experience, I’ve accumulated countless tactics in my head: drives, tactical fouls, shouting at the ref… and my latest masterpiece, Hysan go kill.

For years, past 1st team captains (ehem Matilda, Louis) have promised set plays, yet every season, I’ve been left disappointed. So, I’m FINALLY taking matters into my own hands. I will teach the fundamentals of tactics to everyone during training. After committing to ICSM 1s this year, I know we can execute a set play at least once, and make it count.

Beyond tactics, I promise to lead with commitment, team spirit, and the relentless goal of making ICSMWP a team that opponents fear. I may not have mastered the art of downing a pint, but I do know how to push this team to success, both in and out of the pool.
