Even before stepping foot in the UK, ICUMS has acted as a vessel that helped me smoothen this drastic transition. From the pre-departure camp to the most recent MNight, I have met so many new people while forming many new friendships. Being able to spend time with like-minded individuals with similar cultures gave me a sense of comfort and joy.

With that said, I view this upcoming election as an opportunity to be more involved and immersed in the ICUMS family. If I were to be chosen as secretary, I am confident that I can uphold the existing responsibilities such as room bookings, meeting minutes, preparing documents and the newsletter.

To improve organization, I believe that creating a separate group chat in the ICUMS WhatsApp community for career-related events would be greatly beneficial. Members will have an easier time searching for the relevant information suited to career or internal event purposes.

Next, I propose that an announcement can be made on WhatsApp when the monthly newsletter is released. This notifies the members to look out for the newsletter on Outlook, preventing it from being buried in other emails. An addition of more event recaps with pictures in the newsletter will also encourage more participation in future events, as less active members can see how much fun they are missing out on.

In conclusion, I am confident in my capabilities to serve as the secretary for ICUMS while prioritizing the best interests of our members. Thank you for considering me!
