Sara Sato

Japanese: Secretary

Hi everyone! My name is Sara Sato and I am a first-year BMB student running for the position of secretary.

Being part of the Japanese society has given me a sense of community in a new environment as a new student. Japanese society is an exciting community where I spend great time with the members, and it is also a community that feels like home to me. Having such a great experience being part of the society naturally made me want to contribute as a member of the committee next year.

I believe that my experience in starting a Japanese cultural club in high school would help me a lot in working as the Japanese society’s secretary. I organised origami events, anime quiz events and academic support classes for international students struggling with language barriers. Through the process, I think that my communication skills, social skills and organisation skills improved a lot.

Being a language teacher as part of Japanese society this year allowed me to have interactions with many of you, and I would love to be part of the committee organising more events where we all come together.

As a secretary, I will be supporting other committee members in many ways such as organising events, planning meetings, and communicating with other societies. I am excited to be part of Japanese society next year and I will be a secretary who listens to your thoughts and ideas and makes them happen!
