Joining Imperial last October was a daunting experience, the initial weeks felt overwhelming – it was such a big change. However, IQ was the first truly welcoming place I experienced, where anyone could freely express themselves. This is the main vision of IQ I will bring as secretary. Cultivating an inclusive environment that is comfortable for people from all backgrounds – it is the blend of everyone’s different experiences that create the strongest community.

Society events are imperative to IQ – it is the point where people can catch up and just relax for a couple of hours between lecture-filled days. This is why I will strive to continue successful events from this year (such as speed friending and board games nights) but also experiment with a wider range of activities – maybe open the door for inter-university collabs?! Though going to Heaven is fun sometimes, it is not for everyone, emphasising the need find events that suit more people’s lifestyle. Finally, in order to keep members informed, I propose a semi-regular mailing list, to remind people of events, opportunities and general news related to the society.
