Why am I running for MatSoc secretary? Simple. In my first year here, I could not help but notice other "degrees" having the audacity to act like they are better than Materials. And what am I going to achieve if I become the secretary? Show them why they're wrong. Part of the reason why these delusional people get the notion that their Mickey Mouse degrees are better is because of our boring merch. Seriously, is that the best Materials could come up with? As the Secretary for MatSoc, I will ensure that the BEST degree in Imperial also gets the BEST merch. Secondly, the MatSoc secretary is responsible for organising a summer tour. Oh boy, do I have great ideas regarding that. The secretary also does some boring stuff like taking notes at meetings and stuff, but realistically one should be able to offer more than note-taking if they want to take this position. As I said before, I want to remind everyone at Imperial that Materials is the best course, and becoming the MatSoc secretary is only the first small step. So help a friend out by entrusting him with the position, and in return see how everyone, even the medics, will tremble, blush, and get starstruck when they hear you're doing a degree in Materials.
