Bowen Zhu
Hi there - my name is Bowen, and I am a Computing student and have been the society's Treasurer for the past year.
This year has seen the society wade through various challenges, and particularly those of financial relevance: the society was both in the red and miscategorised at the beginning of the year, impeding funding for multiple crucial services. Fortunately, careful management of the society's funds mean that we are now in a much better position moving towards the end of the year. We have been able to recloth the tables, get new lights, and buy a new ball cleaner, all while being able to continue to pay for essential services (BUCS costs and socials) - and we are on track to be in the black.
I am running for Treasurer this year to ensure that we can keep this momentum going and be in a position to fund more activities and services to members of the society. My previous year of experience has given me a deep insight into the society's finances, and I hope I can use this knowledge to keep us moving in this positive direction.
On a tangential note, I am also the maintainer of the society's website (https://icsp.uk) and livestreams for high-profile matches. Being on the committee has allowed me to essentially act as tech support and provide the aforementioned services to the society. The continuation of my tenure as Treasurer into next year would therefore also imply the development and maintenance of these tech-related services.
