Sailing: Junior Treasurer

Helllooo sailors!

I’m running to be your treasurer because I love sailing, and the thrill of making sure we don’t accidentally go bankrupt. I want to make sure we’re not just keeping the club afloat (literally and financially), but also using our funds strategically to get the union on our side. In doing so, we can secure more support, grow the club, and make it even more welcoming.

I’ve been treasurer before, so I know how the union works (and how to navigate their very fun bureaucracy). The key is clear communication, to not just to keep the club running but to help it grow, strengthen our relationship with the union, and make sailing more accessible and welcoming to new sailors. So here are my goals:

Keeping Finances Shipshape

  • Emergency fund: Setting aside cash to cover unexpected costs
  • Stronger payment structure: Clearer deadlines for memberships and competition fees, with fair flexibility
  • Transparency: Regular budget updates so the squad and union know where money goes and why

Growing the Club & Union Engagement

  • Social sailing: Work with dev sec to make low-cost tickets, boost funds and attract new sailors
  • Union support: Promoting our successes to secure better funding and resources (👀new flights, minbuses)
  • Alumni support and sponsorships: Encouraging alumni donation through impact-driven fundraising
  • Working with sponsorship sec: Finding companies to help out with costs

Maximizing Income

  • Sponsorship and discounts: Working with QM, and sponsors to lower transport and training costs
  • Marketing tactics: Using strategic promotions to attract more members and sponsors
