Sri Lankan: Junior Treasurer

I am running for the position of Co-Treasurer, alongside Minanga Jayasekera.

Being captured by the society’s outreach at the clubs & societies event in October, I immediately fell in love with the welcoming atmosphere that was provided by committee members. I believe that I am a fun and enthusiastic person (often being called ‘unhinged’ haha), and I know I can maintain the warmth of our community.

As a part-time tutor, I have shown my time-management skills, as well as the extended numeracy skills required for the duty of Co-Treasurer. I have demonstrated my commitment to Sri Lankan society through my active role on the sub-committee, playing a major part in the planning team; I hope that my passion for merchandise, especially hoodies, has been evident haha!

Having witnessed my first Sapphire this year as a first-year student, I am beaming with ideas to enhance the experience for 2026. For me personally, I felt that there was limited Tamil representation at the event. I would like to see our committee cater for all communities, which would overall contribute to the inclusivity of the event; this is something which I am very passionate about!

In all, I am running for this role with my friend, because I would like to give back to this amazing community which has made Imperial feel like home to me! I believe that we can make a difference, and that we own the skills required for the role.
