Hayley Uffindell-Esparon
Hello all,
I’m Hayley, a third-year student, and I’m running to be your next Chair of CivSoc—with the endorsement of the current Chair, Vice-Chair, and Treasurer as well as the CGCU President.
Why me?
- Experienced
I’ve spent a year as CivSoc’s Events Officer, as well as two years on the CGCU committee. In both roles, I’ve been actively involved in organising events like the CGCU Welcome Dinner, pub crawls, Christmas dinners (to name a few). I understand what makes a great student society and how to keep things running smoothly. - Proven leadership
As Chair of my hall's committee last year, I led fortnightly meetings and worked with a team to create a real sense of community. I know how to take initiative and make sure everyone’s voice is heard. - The right skills for the role
I’m organised, reliable, and approachable. I genuinely enjoy bringing people together and making student life more engaging, and I want to apply that to CivSoc in a bigger way.
My Vision for CivSoc
As Chair, my focus will be on expanding opportunities and strengthening the CivSoc community. Here’s what I want to achieve:
✅ More inter-year events – Encouraging collaboration and socialising between different year groups through mentoring schemes, panel talks, and casual networking events.
✅ Stronger industry connections – Increasing networking opportunities with professionals, alumni, and companies, giving students more access to career insights and potential job opportunities.
✅ More sponsorships and collaborations – Expanding sponsorships with engineering companies to support bigger events, professional development opportunities.
