Yao Shi
Hello, I’m ShiYao and I am running for ICSM badminton president. Badminton has been a huge part of my life for the past eight years—I’ve trained, competed, and even had my fair share of smashes to the face. As someone who has represented my school in competitions, I understand what it takes to improve as a player. But more importantly, as someone who has been part of a badminton club for a long time, I know what you want: good training, good socials, and shuttlecocks that don’t disintegrate after two rallies.
If elected as president, I will make badminton more enjoyable and accessible for everyone. I’ll organise more social sessions along with better equipment—no more fighting over the one decent racket while the rest feel like fly swatters. Beyond the court, I’ll arrange more social dinners and events. As someone who is involved in other sports like basketball, I hope to collaborate with other societies for inter-sport events.
For team members, I’ll organise more structured training to help us improve. While this may mean fewer matches, focused training is more effective in developing skill and ensuring we perform at our best. My goal is to make our team stronger and more competitive in BUCS.
Ultimately, whether you’re here to compete or just have fun, this club should be a place for everyone. With better training, more social events, and proper equipment, we can make badminton more enjoyable for all. Vote for me, and let’s build a stronger, more inclusive club!
