Nikhil Li
Malaysian: President
Dear Members of the Imperial College Union Malaysian Society,
Studying abroad can be daunting, but ICUMS has been a home away from home for many of us. My name is Nikhil Li - a first year Mechanical Engineering student and a proud Malaysian - and to me, ICUMS stands for Inclusivity, Culture, Unity, Mentorship, and STEM - values I will uphold and strengthen if elected as President.
1. Welfare & Wellbeing: Supporting Every Member
- Course-Based Mentorship & Senior Engagement – Strengthening academic and career guidance from third- and fourth-years.
- Mental Health Check-ins & Welfare Packs – Creating safe spaces for students to share concerns and de-stress.
- Accommodation Ambassadors – Encouraging participation among less active members.
2. Sponsorships & Careers: Expanding Opportunities
- More STEM Sponsorships & Industry Ties – Partnering with firms like Rolls-Royce, Dyson, Shell, and Mace to support student careers.
- ICAAM Collaboration – Advocating mentorship programs and exclusive networking events with alumni.
- Careers 101 Expansion – Securing more sponsors, workshops, and potential collaborations with other London MSocs.
3. Events & Activities: A Stronger Malaysian Identity
- London MGames & Sports Leagues – Strengthening inter-university connections through sports.
- Pasar Malam & Sukaneka – Expanding cultural celebrations to include all Malaysian backgrounds.
- STEM Conference & Ideathon Growth – Securing more industry mentors, sponsors, and international participation.
With my leadership experience and commitment, I will work tirelessly to make ICUMS more inclusive, connected, and impactful. Vote for me, and let’s take ICUMS to greater heights!
