Hi, I’m Arsh, your current First Year Wellbeing Representative, and I’m excited to run for the role of Departmental Wellbeing Representative. Over the past year, I’ve worked closely with staff, year reps, and departmental representatives to address student concerns and improve wellbeing in Chemical Engineering. This experience has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to effectively represent your needs and liaise with the relevant people in and out of the department to ensure its smooth operation.
One of the highlights of my time as a rep was co-organising the Valentine’s Day "Take Me Out" game show alongside wellbeing reps from other engineering departments. This truly honed my event-planning skills and demonstrated my ability to bring people together for fun, engaging activities. As your representative, I will continue to organise events that promote wellbeing, encourage a sense of community, and provide opportunities for students to unwind and connect.
Another issue that I would focus on as the departmental wellbeing rep is transforming our department’s common room and social spaces to have a similar atmosphere and setup as Mech Eng’s MechSpace. This was something that I worked on this year with the other reps and I think it’s a concept worth revisiting and investing in again, as it provides a space for all the students to unwind and socialise with peers across the department.
With your vote, I’ll work hard to improve wellbeing, enhance our spaces, and bring us closer together.
