Hello everyone!
My name is Jiahuizi Peng, and I am a Y1 student of Mathematics at Imperial College London. I am running for the position of Mathematics Wellbeing Representative, and my goal is to create a more supportive and inclusive environment for all of us in the department.
As a Mathematics student, I understand the academic pressures we face. I am committed to the following goals to improve the wellbeing of students:
1. Enhance Mental Health Support
I will ensure that every student has access to mental health resources by organizing regular wellbeing events, providing useful tools for managing stress, and fostering an open environment for discussing mental health.
2. Improve Study and Social Spaces
I will advocate for better study spaces, ensuring regular cleaning and adding more comfortable seating and collaborative spaces. I also plan to work with MathSoc to organize more cross-year social events to encourage interaction and collaboration between students.
3. Foster Transparent Communication and Feedback
I will maintain open communication between students and staff, ensuring that everyone’s voices are heard. Regular feedback sessions will be held to address academic and non-academic issues, and I will work to ensure your concerns are acted upon.
4. Promote Work-Life Balance
I will push for reducing excessive assessments and pushing for more flexible deadlines to ensure we can maintain a healthy academic and personal life balance.
I am eager to be the voice for every student, ensuring that we can all thrive in a supportive and fulfilling environment!
