Hey! I’m Lair, an enthusiastic, dedicated, and passionate BMB student from Brazil/Argentina looking to transform the academic representation within BMB. What’s the issue right now?
Current reality:
Feedback/idea —> forgotten (or never mentioned to staff) —> unfruitful SSLG —> no changes made
Hopeful future:
Feedback/idea —> noted by year rep (or me!) —> discussion in SSLG —> changes made!!
How will I make this possible?
Driving change —> continuously/personally connect with year groups and representatives to ensure concerns do not go unnoticed and are advocated across BMB Cohorts, bringing up recurring feedback.
Rep Budget —> provide reps with a dedicated time/budget for interactive feedback sessions where students are given a safe space to share feedback/ideas with free treats like cookies or coffee! This will make reps more visible, unify the cohort, and ensure all student voices are heard (bonus: free goodies).
Revolutionized survey —> beyond current rep surveys, I will open a course-wide survey where students can anonymously rant/give feedback specific to a module, teaching style, or day (negative or positive!) to create solutions tailored by students, for students.
As academic rep for year 1, I witnessed firsthand how committed the staff is to building the best learning environment possible. As your academic officer, I commit to strengthening student voices, ensuring no feedback is left untouched. Together, we'll model our course towards its best through real, noticeable changes for ourselves and the years to come. It’s up to us to make a difference!
