Gender Equality Officer

Hi, I’m Sijin (Christina), running to be your Gender Equality Officer.

As a woman in STEM, I’m dedicated to fighting for a campus where every woman feels safe, seen, and valued.

Be Valued: I will actively create opportunities for women to reach their full potential with increased support and reduced prejudice, such as a Women’s Mentorship Program. To combat the Matilda Effect—the erasure of women’s achievements—I propose partnering with Felix, our official university newspaper, to feature feminist content and highlight significant contributions by women.

Be Seen: When women’s needs shape innovation, equality becomes actionable.By raising gender awareness among future engineers, scientists, and entrepreneurs, I plan to organize feminism-themed seminars and forums to address overlooked issues in everyday life. For example, lab ergonomic chairs and car cockpits should be designed with women's bodies in mind, not just men's.

Be Heard: I am committed to listening and representing your concerns on women’s rights. I plan to establish feedback links across departmental websites and collaborate with organizations like FemSoc and the Women in Science to ensure our voices are heard and acted on swiftly.

Gender equality is everyone’s fight, not just women’s issue. As your officer, I’ll try turning frustrations into solutions, amplifying silenced voices, and making equality a reality.

Vote Sijin Wu—to turn equality from a word into action. Let’s make Imperial a place where everyone can thrive equally.
