It’s Time for Change: More Affordable Meals, Better Campus Facilities and Stronger Student Support

I’m Anson, Fourth Year Bioeng, running for Deputy President (Welfare).

As a first-gen Asian student who has faced major mental health struggles at Imperial, my road here has been rather bumpy - however, this has given me an intersectional lens and a passion for improving student experience. I have represented 1000+ students in both academic and welfare contexts, secured funds for activities and campaigns, worked closely with the current Deputy President (Welfare) and lobbied for better student welfare policies in my multiple representative and CSP roles.

As DPW, I will:

Make Student Life More Affordable

  • Lobby for at least one filling hot food option within the £1.50 - £3 range, in eateries across all campuses
  • Launch 50% off pastries 1 hour before closing
  • Review opening hours of campus eateries and introduce extended hours for hot meals during peak exam seasons
  • Launch a travel fund for commuter students and push for better inter-campus travel support as the College expands in White City

Transform Campus Facilities

  • Boost funding for new study spaces as part of the Sherfield Building Redevelopment
  • Lobby departments to refurbish old common rooms and create nap/ relaxation zones
  • Launch a Second-hand Swap Shop

Strengthen Student Support Services

  • Secure more resources for welfare support, targeting students with adjustments, mitigating circumstances, and mental health issues.
  • Hold the College accountable on providing culturally-diverse support for students of all backgrounds, such as LGBTQ+/Disabilities/BAME communities
