Mahathi Varma

Hey everyone! I’m Mahathi, a third-year medic. I’m excited to run for Academic Officer for Early Years, bringing my experience in student leadership, organisation, and academic support to the role.

A key aim of mine is to increase transparency of what happens in SSLGs to students. I want to encourage academic reps to communicate more actively with their year groups by speaking during Touchpoint sessions or between lectures, ensuring year groups stay informed about decisions that affect them. This can increase clarity of the importance of providing feedback, something I would want to improve on in this role.

I have strong organisational and interpersonal skills, developed as RAG Secretary, where I managed events, schedules, and logistics. As Curriculum and Research Lead for In2MedSchool, I coordinated lesson plans and worked with medical students nationwide, strengthening my ability to manage academic initiatives effectively. These roles have also taught me the importance of clear and timely communication with relevant members of different teams to ensure smooth event execution, a skill directly transferable to this role, such as in organising CPA mocks.

I am committed to improving academic support and representation for lower years. My leadership experiences have equipped me with the delegation, adaptability, and teamwork skills needed to ensure the role is carried out effectively. I am confident in my ability to represent the early years effectively, so would appreciate your vote for me!
