ICSMSU: RAG Chair

Hi everyone, I'm Rachael and I'm running for RAG Chair! I believe RAG is about more than just raising money—it’s about building connections, making a significant impact, and creating a positive change. I’m ready to bring new ideas, work with our community, and make sure our initiatives are as engaging and effective as possible.

As current Vice Chair and a member of the RAG committee for the past two years, I’ve been deeply involved with its traditions, from leading our volunteering team to coordinating impactful events. This passion has led me to various experiences like co-launching the Health Literacy Project and joining playteam. These experiences, along with being a choreographer for the ICSM Fashion Show, have developed my communication skills, and has enhanced my time management and organisational abilities.

After leading a successful Volunteering Day with over 100 volunteers across 5 charities I would ensure that volunteering is the heart of RAG. I am committed to creating a new section of RAG dedicated to creating long-term volunteering opportunities with local charities.

With regards to events:

  • I want to host another large-scale conference, similar to the one we held two years ago, with new expert speakers in both medical and non-medical fields
  • I want to explore why certain events may not sell out as quickly as others, and find ways to change this and increase participation
  • I’d love to organise a glow-in-the-dark themed night out in collaboration with other Universities’ RAG societies, where whichever university raises the most that night wins
