Hello everyone, I am Vincent, a second year EPS student and I am running to be your Departmental Academic Representative next year. As the first-year academic representative in 23/24 I have a good understanding of the department structure and experience in attending student-staff meetings. I am confident I can settle into the role in no time.
After discussing with my peers and the current dep rep, I have set the following objectives as my main goals:
- Increasing interactions between year reps and students by asking them to inform their cohort about any decisions made during the SSC in midterm so that students can keep the changes in mind and provide further feedback on improvements in the MEQ.
- Address the high workload in the second year caused by the disproportionately high number of double modules. It doesn't matter that "each ECTs corresponds to the amount of time you should put into each module" because it doesn't change the fact that you are studying the content for 7 different modules.
- Reduce emphasis on exams for some modules through alternative means of assessment to alleviate stress at the end of the term.
Aside from achieving these objectives, I promise to uphold myself to the same standards as I would expect of others and value all opinions equally. I will also maintain good communication and respond to any issues promptly, please do not hesitate if you have any inquiries. I am looking forward to working with you in the coming year.
