Areeba Lalani
Biological Sciences (UG): Departmental Academic Representative
Hi! I am Areeba Lalani, a second-year Biological Sciences student from Bahrain, and I am excited to apply for the position of Departmental Academic Representative. I want to redefine student engagement within our department and ensure that our academic experience is about meeting requirements and fostering opportunities, innovation, and student-led initiatives.
What I Will Do Differently:
- Career & Research Pipeline: I will advocate for a structured career and research mentorship scheme, connecting undergraduates with postgraduates, alums, and faculty to gain insights into internships, lab placements, and diverse career paths beyond academia.
- Transparent Feedback & Student-Led Advocacy: I will create a rolling feedback system where students can track faculty responses to concerns in real-time. This will ensure accountability and action on module content, assessment clarity, and workload balance.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: I will establish a cross-departmental initiative, allowing students to explore bioengineering, AI in biology, and entrepreneurship, equipping us with a broader skill set for future careers.
With experience in event management, student advocacy, and leadership, I am confident in my ability to enhance our academic experience meaningfully. I represent and empowerment and empower Imperial Biological Sciences students.
