James Stadler
Computing (UG): Departmental Academic Representative
Hi, I'm James, a 3rd year MEng student.
The purpose of this role is for someone to represent you and complain on your behalf.
Vote for me because:
- I am talented at complaining: I not only am good at it, I also enjoy it. I've secured two deadline extensions for courseworks that were too aggressively deadlined, and that was when I didn't even have the mandate as an academic rep. It just comes naturally.
- I will take any complaint seriously and fight on your behalf if you can't be bothered.
Furthermore, I will action on these points:
- Lack of standardisation/deficiencies in running flipped learning modules: It should be a default that all lectures are released in advance and that tutorials are timetabled appropriately so that watching your lectures fits naturally in your weekly routine.
- That exams results from December exams are released before April. This was frankly ridiculous this year, and I think we as students should expect better.
- The poor state of the plug points around labs and lecture theatres.
I would like to remind everyone that students for the coming year will pay £43,800 or £9535 pa. I will always keep this in mind, and while I do think that our department is the best at Imperial, we should strive to make it even better.
