Hi everyone! I'm David, a final year EE student standing to be your next DPCS.
CSPs have been the highlight of my university experience. Over this time I helped grow Robotics Society from a 200 person workshop into a 500+ community of makers and the largest fee-paying CSP! I achieved this by working with the Union, department heads and central college to ensure the best experience for our members.
If elected, I will continue this work on a much larger scale.
It is clear that many societies feel left behind by the Union, especially if they don't conform to its template of what a society should do.
I will ensure that the Union works for every society:
Union modernisation
- Create specialised spaces for societies that haven't been catered for
- Complete a survey on all union managed spaces to improve the outdated storage and space policies
- Decentralise more power to the constituent unions with regards to storage and policing grant usage
- Provide digital services to CSPs such as website/server hosting
- Create an informal forum to get advice from experienced CSP leaders
Better Support and Training
- Remove inaccurate or outdated information across union platforms
- Specialised training depending on society activity
- First aid training opportunities for students
Improved Student Participation
- Improved transparency into how your elected trustees are serving you
- Regular updates on Union meetings and how they affect CSPs
- Weekly in-person Q&A to hear directly from students
