Hi everyone!
I’m Teo, a 4th-year Biomedical Engineering student from Istanbul, Turkey, and I’m running to be your next Union President!
Throughout my time at Imperial, I’ve been actively involved in the Sailing Club as President, Turkish Society as Social Secretary, and the Sports Sector as Treasurer, where I’ve helped organise ACC and worked on key sporting matters. These experiences have shown me both the strengths of our community and the areas where we need real change.
If elected, I will focus on three key areas:
1. Fixing Imperial’s Broken Support Systems
- International students deserve better. Visa applications can be stressful and complex, especially for those facing tougher restrictions. Imperial must offer clearer guidance, faster response times, and real advocacy.
- Making GP registration and settling into the UK easier with accessible, step-by-step support.
- Reducing counselling and disability service wait times – currently 2-3 months, leaving students without timely support.
2. Supporting Societies
- Budget approvals and event processing must be faster and more efficient.
- Expanding inter-university varsity events with other London Universities, including a London Fight Night.
3. Holding the College Accountable
- Ensuring easy, high-impact improvements – like campus maintenance, broken facilities, and poor ventilation in study spaces – are actually addressed in a timely manner.
- Expanding and improving study spaces, especially in White City and Hammersmith campuses.
- Pushing for transparency in College spending, making sure student money is spent in ways that directly benefit us.
