Ali Saeed
Hi! I’m Ali, and I’m applying to be the head gardener for the Huxley building.
I’m a very keen gardener and nature enthusiast, and would love to help create some green spaces for our campus – I think it’s pretty important for us to have these spaces, not just as a source of natural beauty and environmental benefit, but also as a relief from the intensely urban environment we are living in.
I have lots of experience working in gardening, such as in planting flowers, shrubs, and trees in particular, as well as garden design; I have also previously done a lot of work in maintaining and looking after all different kinds of plants. I would really love to use this experience to help introduce and design attractive green spaces on campus!
I want to help create intelligently designed natural spaces, to make Huxley much more beautiful; having many well-placed plants in different areas will make it feel a lot more vibrant and welcoming. I think a good variety of both indoor and outdoor plants (as well as some trees if permitted) will really uplift the appearance of the Huxley building and revitalise it.
If chosen as head gardener, I hope to create a very pleasant and refreshing atmosphere for us all to work and enjoy our time in, and to also help people appreciate both the natural and scientific beauty of plants.
